Type Specimen Book

Hey everyone,

Below are the spreads for my type specimen book! I’m really excited by the way they look. Tomorrow I hope to get a good critique, make whatever changes necessary, and then set it out to get printed! I think this was a great portfolio building piece, and something that is really needed in my portfolio.

I tried to make this project reflective of the type of design I like: structured with a strong Swiss influence, monotone with pops of color, and an overall clean design. If you look at the rest of my blog, you can see where some of my influences come from.

Again, if anyone out there has any suggestions please feel free to comment or email me: tundiheinrich@yahoo.com.

Thanks! T*

Typography Book

Below are a few preliminary designs for the 16 page typography booklet I’m creating. Essentially it’s filled with interesting facts about the Trier/Luxembourg region as I lived there. It’s a topic that interests me greatly because living there was such an important an inspirational time in my life.

I chose red for a few reasons. One, it is the wine region of Germany, so I thought a symbol of red would be appropriate. Secondly, it’s a place of enormous history and energy. Therefore, I thought red would be also symbolic.

My choice of typefaces are:

A La Nage | CG Aldous Vert | Estilo | Interstate | Neutra Text | Bryant | ITC Lubalin Graph | Neutraface Slab | CG Geometric Lt | PMN Caecilia | Geometric Slabserif | Sauna | Sudestada Ends

I might also add how much I really love this kind of old, curly bold font that Sudestada presents! It really changes a whole piece into something romantic and beautiful. If anyone has any creative input or ideas, please feel free to post!
